During the Great Hall takeover by First Year IAMD students I created an installation to go along with an oracle card deck and handbook that I created. During the opening I experimented with my first work of performance art. With Brendan’s assistance he played my late Grandfather’s Tibetan Singing Bowl while I used pink Himalayan salt to create a double circle around the two chairs, lastly I arranged cedar I had been foraging after storms around with the salt. I invited people to come sit with me for an Oracle Card Reading.
I devised a ritual to help me tap more into the participant’s energy, asking them to select a color from the LED light in the corner. We then hovered our palms near each other and took three deep breaths together before I had them place a hand on the deck and then cut the deck. I arranged the cards and let the participant’s select 1-3 cards based off personal preference. I interpreted the meaning of the card(s) pulled and discussed with the participant how this could be relevant or significant to their life. Between participants I hit the Tibetan Singing Bowl and touched a piece of Obsidian next to me to clear the energy.
Thank you so much to everyone who trusted me with a reading! I hope you enjoyed the experience.
